Fuente & Newman Cigar Distribution Company Changes Its Name

The vast cigar portfolio of Arturo Fuente is now being distributed under a new, but very familiar name. Fuente & Newman Cigars Limited Inc., which distributes all Arturo Fuente cigars throughout the United States, has changed its name to Arturo Fuente Cigar Co.

“When my grandfather founded our family business in 1912, he called it the Arturo Fuente Cigar Company,” said Carlos Fuente Jr., president and owner of Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. “I am very pleased that Arturo Fuente cigars will once again be sold in the United States by a company bearing our original name.”

According to the Fuente and Newman families, the structure and operations of the company will remain the same; only the company name is changing.

“I am very proud of the longstanding partnership between both our century-old cigar families,” said Eric Newman, president of J.C. Newman Cigar Co. “We look forward to strengthening the Arturo Fuente brand in the United States and continuing to provide superior service and to cigar retailers across the country.”

The Fuente and Newman families have been partners since 1986, when the Fuentes began making handmade cigars for the Newmans, and the Newmans began making machine-made cigars for the Fuentes. In 1990 the Fuente and Newman families created a distribution company, which was originally named FANCO International. It became Fuente & Newman Cigars Limited Inc. in 1995. The company distributes brands such as Arturo Fuente (including the 2017 Cigar of the Year, the Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Eye of the Shark), Hemingway.
