S.T. Dupont Launches First Dual Torch Lighter

Luxury accessories maker S.T. Dupont has a new cigar tool designed for the great outdoors. It’s called the Défi XXtrême, and it’s the company’s first cigar lighter outfitted with two torch flames. The -based company launched the high-end lighter in the U.S. last week.
The XXtrême is the follow-up to the company’s Défi Extreme model (note the spelling difference), a single torch lighter that excels in strong winds, high altitudes and under severe temperatures.
The Défi XXtrême ups the ante of its predecessor with a second blue torch flame. According to Dupont, the new twin jet lighter toasts cigars faster than the original, stays lit under the duress of force 7 winds on the Beaufort Scale, and performs flawlessly at altitudes over 11,400 feet and at temperatures nearing lows of 14 degrees Fahrenheit and highs of 113 degrees Fahrenheit.
The lighter measures 2.8 inches tall by 1.8 inches wide with a depth of 0.7 inches. It comes equipped with a transparent gas window to measure the lighter’s fuel level, a flame-adjuster to raise and lower the height of the torch flames, and a shockproof bumper designed to protect the lighter if it falls to the ground.
The XXtrême comes in two finishes: black and matte red and all-black. Both versions retail for $398.
Unlike Dupont’s flagship Ligne 2 lighter, which is made in , the Défi XXtrême is made at the company’s facility in China. S.T. Dupont is distributed by Davidoff of Geneva in the United States.
