United Cigars Goes Light With Newest Firecracker Line
When you think of firecrackers, your mind likely wanders to Fourth of July celebrations or vexing neighborhood kids with perhaps too much downtime. But for fans of United Cigars, the name brings up visions of plump cigars topped with long pigtail caps, made to resemble a fuse. The New Hampshire-based company currently has two existing lines in its core Firecracker series, Sun Grown and Maduro. But now, a lighter leaf is being added to the fold with the introduction of Firecracker Connecticut, a new, regular-production line set to debut at the TPE trade show next week in Las Vegas.
Aside from being a core brand of United’s, the staple firecracker cigar shape is also known for its frequent limited release collaborations with other cigarmakers.
“This Connecticut Firecracker surprised me during the blending process,” says Oliver Nivaud, director of operations for United Cigars. “The final blend represents the line perfectly.”
Firecracker Connecticut is wrapped in a Connecticut-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador, complemented by binder and filler from the Dominican Republic. The short, fat smokes measure 3 1/2 inches long by 50 ring gauge, and are intended to be medium-bodied.
Like the Sun Grown and Maduro lines, Firecracker Connecticut is made at the Magia Cubana factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The cigars will be available in 25-count boxes and have a suggested retail price of $6 each, or $150 per box.
