Vacheron Constantin Overseas Everest Limited Editions

When the American explorer and photographer Cory Richards made his third ascent of Mount Everest in 2019, he wore a special Overseas watch from Vacheron Constantin. The titanium-and-steel prototype, equipped with a dual-time function, served as the model for two new special “Everest” editions available to those with a taste for adventure—real or virtual.

Both movements’ oscillating rotors stand out in high-contrast pink gold, engraved with a scene of Everest photographed by Richards during one of his expeditions. Overseas is Vacheron’s sportiest collection, easily identifiable by its notched six-sided bezel evoking the brand’s Maltese Cross emblem. The Everest pieces add a more casual and modern aesthetic to the line with the case, bezel, pushers and pusher guards in lightweight, robust titanium, bezel ring in steel, and a dark blue/gray matte dial with bright orange accents.

Both are outfitted with a tool-free, quick-change strap system so you can swap out the Cordura fabric strap for the rubber one—and vice versa—in a snap. The movements, revealed through sapphire crystal case backs, are finished with an anthracite gray NAC treatment to complement the contemporary aesthetic.

The 41-mm Overseas Dual Time Everest ($31,300), which closely matches Richards’ watch, was designed with globetrotters in mind. The in-house automatic 5110 DT/2 movement displays two time zones with local time on the central hour and minute hands and home time indicated by an orange arrow-tipped hand paired with a clear am/pm day/night indicator at 9 o’clock.

The slightly larger Overseas Everest Chronograph ($37,000, 42.5 mm) echoes the same aesthetic with a chronograph function featuring a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and a small-seconds display at 9 o’clock, with a bright orange central chronograph hand matching those on the counters. The in-house, self-winding Calibre 5200/2 has twin barrels, plus a column-wheel and vertical clutch for crisp, stutter-free chrono action.

Fortunately, you don’t have to venture to the Roof of the World to appreciate this duo’s rugged good looks and high-precision performance, as they also make quite an adventurous impression at sea level.
