DON PEPIN GARCIA CUBAN CLASSIC 1979

Tasting Note
Yet another fine cigar from Pepin Garcia, the Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic is a brand he makes for himself, rather than another company. The former Cuban cigar roller is now the owner of two factories, and this Cuban Classic is the product of his fabrica in Estelí, Nicaragua. The cigars in the Cuban Classic line are named for the birth years of various of Garcia's immediate family. The 1950 is named for Pepin. Our favorite was the 1979, a robusto size (5 inches by 50 ring), named for his daughter Janny, who works alongside him. It has lots of wood, leather and toasted almonds on the palate, a rich, medium- to full-bodied smoke with a long finish. Just when you think you've tasted it all from Garcia, he dazzles you with something new.
