Cigar Aficionado’s 2024 Father’s Day Gift Guide

You’re probably just getting over the trauma of shopping for something frilly and flowery for Mother’s Day. Now, the fun begins—buying for Father’s Day is the chance to get in touch with your masculine mode. Here’s a list of prizes for pop that range in price from $5 to $750,000 to get you started.
Cobra LIMIT3D Irons ($3,000)
Forged irons are sleek and stylish, but hard for amateurs to hit well. Game-improvement irons are meant to help even a duffer get the ball in the air, but they have a bulky look and feel. Cobra’s new LIMIT3D Irons, the first commercially made 3D printed irons, have the look of a forged club with the playability of a game-improvement club. The 3D printing technology (officially known as additive manufacturing) builds an intricate lattice of steel inside a hollow iron. This saves weight, allowing for a heft to be later added in the form of tungsten weight pads. You get a smooth-hitting iron with the sleek look of a pro’s club. A set of clubs (4 iron to pitching wedge) sells for $3,000.
A Shirt They Won't Forget From Hamilton ($245 and up)
Houston’s oldest family-owned business is Hamilton, a maker of bespoke shirts founded in 1883 and now owned and operated by the fourth-generation brother-and-sister team of David and Kelly Hamilton. The company makes a variety of wonderful, high-quality shirts. You can select something from the ready-to-wear collection (starting at $245) but for the full tailor experience opt for made-to-measure and fully bespoke varieties, which begin at $295. Since these are tailored to a person’s measurements, simply purchase a gift card for the recipient.
Puma Phantomcat Nitro Golf Shoes ($180)
Traction and fit are the key things to think about in footwear for golf. The new Puma Phantomcat Nitro has a quartet of cleats shaped like infinity symbols on the sole, providing a futuristic look and what Puma calls unrivaled traction on the course. It’s called FlexSpike technology and it’s the hallmark of the new shoes, which also have Nitro Foam for comfort and leather uppers for style. The contrasting colors provide pop on the course.
Guy Fieri Flavortown Sauces For Grilling ($5)
Cigar lover Guy Fieri can zest up any gathering. Now the energetic celebrity chef has created a line of sauces and condiments that are ideal for barbecue season. There are nine in all, including two types of BBQ sauces (Carolina and Smokin’ Hickory), Poppin’ Jalapeño, one simply marked Top Secret and Fieri’s signature, garlicky Donkey Sauce, for years a staple from his restaurants.
“Yellowstone” Quote Book ($17)
Dealing with problems just seems simpler in the storied world of “Yellowstone,” the hit series that stars Kevin Costner as the leader of the Dutton clan. Neighbors have their stuff on your (massive) lawn again? Grab the shotguns. One of the employees grousing about working conditions on the ranch? Drop them off at the “train station,” aka dumping them off a cliff. The characters on the show do it their way, which is why it’s so damn entertaining. “There’s Work To Be Done” has 75 quotes from the show, including the titular one from Rip, played by Cole Ha. And when things get really nasty and you have to get someone in line, we suggest using one of the lines from Beth, perhaps the most bombastic and dangerous of the Duttons. “You are the trailer park,” she says. “I am the tornado.”
Fragrance Du Bois Men’s Cologne ($350)
Some dads are big on scents that go beyond that produced by burning Romeo y Julietas and Padróns. Fragrance Du Bois has intriguing selections for men, including Cannabis Blue, which has complex, herbaceous notes that include cardamom, Sichuan pepper, grapefruit and cedarwood. A plus? The cologne comes in gorgeous packaging that rivals a box of Cohiba Behikes.
Adidas SP0070 Sport Sunglasses ($78)
Sunglasses are a must for outdoor activities, and when said activities get sweaty and intense you need high-performance lenses to shield your eyes from the sun. Enter Adidas SP0070, made with flexible frames and adjustable nose pads with sweat-draining lines to keep them from slipping off. Polycarbonate lenses help cut out glare and a 10-hole aeration system at the temples offers ventilation.
SwingNet Pro Golf Net ($500)
Heading out to the range can be a welcomed escape, but sometimes a little bit of practicality and convenience is what’s really needed to efficiently work on your golf game. The SwingNet Pro allows you to bring the range to your home, both for indoor and outdoor use. The simple-to-set-up, aluminum-framed net will stay safe from rust and even comes with pre-attached side netting should you—or your less-skilled buddy—be prone to shanks or slices.
Sophisticated Large Jewelry Chest ($600)
Cigar lovers have a tendency to drift towards the finer things in life, whether they be smokes, wine, dining or even jewelry. For the cigar smoker who comes tricked out in beautiful watches or stylish bracelets, consider this hand-crafted jewelry chest from Mikutowski Woodworking. This multileveled box offers plenty of storage with multiple shelves and trays to house one’s most prized accessories. Plus, you can choose from a variety of lid and body finishes.
Allenton Pool Table ($3,000)
A billiards table has a natural place in any cigar room. The elegant furniture on which to play the historic game exudes feelings of times past, when escaping to a back room for post-dinner cigars was a nightly occasion. The Allenton Pool Table from the Billiard Factory can help transport you back to those days. The table comes in two sizes, seven feet or eight feet ($3,250), and is available in just about every kind of felt finish you can imagine. Its expertly-crafted base has an espresso-colored finish and a sturdy foundation that’s built to last.
Set of Bookends With Iron Pipe Accents ($100)
For the dad who loves to read and is drawn to the modern vintage style, consider these industrial bookends. Decorative and functional, the wood and black pipe bookends, made by JT Industrial Designs in Texas, offer dad a practical gift that’ll also add a bit of character to his desk. They’re available in 10 different wood finishes.
Fender 70th Anniversary American Vintage II 1954 Stratocaster ($2,600)
This year marks the 70th birthday of what is arguably the most popular and influential electric guitar of all time, the Fender Stratocaster. Boasting a Space Age, double-cutaway design to access all 21 frets, the Strat took the world of music by storm. With its 25 1/2-inch scale length neck and 7 1/4-inch fingerboard radius, no solo is out of reach. Three single-coil pickups have been specially wired to reproduce the signature bright, glassy tones that made the Strat the classic it is. Period-correct appointments include a single-ply pickguard, nitrocellulose sunburst finish and one-piece C-shape maple neck. For a further authentic touch, it comes in a reproduction tweed case with a slew of vintage-style mementos inside.
Bark And Barware Cocktail Smoker Kit ($50)
Whether entertaining or having an evening cocktail by yourself (ideally with a cigar), try elevating your at-home concoctions with a smoke infusion, courtesy of the Bark and Barware Cocktail Smoker Kit. All you need is to place the smoker on the rim of your glass, fill it with wood chips, ignite and replace the lid. Packaged in a wooden case, it comes with everything you need including a torch flame guard, quad-torch lighter, tongs, cleaning brush, whiskey stones and a mold for ice spheres. The set includes six different varieties of wood to try: cherry, oak, pear, hickory, apple and maple. Use the QR code to access an assortment of cocktail recipes to experiment with. Two finishes are available. The natural wood set comes with a silver torch and tongs, whereas the black box comes with gold accessories.
Amish Woodbury Wine Buffet (Starting at $3,000)
Furniture is not something typically associated with Father’s Day but dads appreciate fine woodworking too. Crafted by the Amish, this stately wine buffet is the perfect piece to spruce up the dining room, the home bar or living room. Made entirely of solid, sustainably sourced woods, this American-made piece includes a wine rack that can hold up to 17 bottles, enough to keep a dinner party well-stocked without having to trudge down to the cellar for more. Available in a variety of different woods, finishes and hardware, which you can mix and match.
Kirby Allison Hangers ($18 to $33)
The moment the titular character from the film Mommy Dearest starts to yell “No wire hangers!” you know she’s gone completely around the bend. Don’t let this happen to Dad. The Kirby Allison Hanger Project provides high-quality wooden suit hangers in various sizes with felted tro bars to keep all elements of your wardrobe in shape. The company also offers many other grooming accessories, including products for shoe care, ironing and garment storage, as well as style guides.
Barsys 360 Robot Bartender ($475)
Maybe Dad likes to entertain, but doesn’t fancy spending the evening mixing drinks. Enter the Barsys 360 Robot Bartender. You fill it with your choice of six ingredients (spirits, aperitifs, mixers, etc.), tell your phone app what they are and it will suggest all the cocktails the Barsys can craft from it. Once you choose, the ingredients will automatically pour into the electromagnetic mixing glass. The glass replicates shaking or stirring motions. That seem too lazy? The Barsys Coaster ($64) does the measuring as you pour in the ingredients and the coaster turns colors to indicate you’re done. You provide the shaking.
Rubygold Designer Pineapple ($396)
What do you get when you crossbreed a traditional pineapple with the Morada variety and grow it in Costa Rica? In Fresh Del Monte’s case, the answer is the Rubyglow, a hybridized designer fruit that promises to bring the pineapple experience to new, luxurious heights with luscious levels of unprecedented sweetness. Named for its signature reddish outer shell, each Rubyglow takes two years to cultivate and is naturally ripened on the plant. Supplies are extremely limited, and you’ll probably be put on a waiting list, but if dad is a true pineapple aficionado—or a connoisseur of exotic fruit—it will be worth it.
Whisky Barrel Smoked Japanese Black Tea ($38.50/30 gram packet)
Because of the tannins in tea, the perfect cigar pairing (or even a good one) can be challenging. Thanks to Upton Tea Imports, we’ve found it. The venerable importer has found a small family producer in Shizuoka, Japan, that smokes this black tea for six to eight hours using wood chips from an oak whisky barrel. The aroma is reminiscent of an autumn bonfire, while its bold, smoky, oaky flavor takes center stage. Smokiness lingers long onto the finish, complemented by sweet hints of amaretto and rose, much like a good cigar.
Sonus Faber Suprema Loudspeaker System ($750,000)
In celebration of the Italian brand’s 40th anniversary, Sonus faber has released its most ambitious audio system to date—and the sound is revelatory. Suprema consists of five parts: two lute-shaped main column speakers, two subwoofers and a full discrete crossover. Each column features eight front-firing speakers and two back-firing drivers. This includes a new midrange with a cellulose pulp diaphragm, as well as a mid tweeter and super tweeter, both with treated silk domes. The subwoofer uses two powerful 38 cm transducers and a neodymium magnet motor system to ensure undistorted pressures up to 16Hz. We can go on and on with specs and power ratings, but to put it simply, this system will make even the most avid audiophiles hear the most familiar songs in an entirely new way.
Riva Aquarama Model Speedboat ($679.95)
If dad is into speedboats, then he either has a Riva or wishes he did. Either way, bring a bit of la dolce vita to his life with this intricate model of the Italian Riva Aquarama, which captures all the details of the full-size 1960s classic with uncanny accuracy and scale. At 35 inches long, the Riva Aquarama comes fully assembled, made by hand out of western red cedar, rosewood and mahogany woods. Requiring hundreds of hours to complete, each model is created with the same plank-on-frame construction used to build actual ships. It’s the perfect accent for coastal décor and certainly more glamorous than a ship in a bottle.
