Cuban Juan Lopez Valkyria Coming To Nordic And Baltic Regions

Collectors who travel the world in pursuit of Cuba’s Regional Edition smokes now have a new quest that will take them north. There’s a new Cuban cigar made exclusively for Europe’s Nordic and Baltic regions, and its name is rooted in Norse mythology. The Juan Lopez Valkyria, which is set to launch next week, measures 5 1/2 inches by 52 ring gauge, the same size as the Cohiba Maduro 5 Genios. It will come packaged in 10-count boxes. Only 6,000 boxes are being released.
“Valkyria is the beautiful woman that escorts the fallen Viking warrior from the battlefield to Valhalla where the gods live,” says Sweden-based Habanos Nordic A.B., which distributes Cuban cigars for the Nordic countries and Baltic states, including Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The Juan Lopez Valkyria is set to retail from 27 euros to 32 euros each (about $30 to $35), depending on the country and its tobacco taxes. A secondary band reads “Exclusivo Países Nórdicos” to indicate its Regional Edition status. Technically, this cigar comes a few years late, as the Valkyria was officially slated to be a 2023 release.
According to Habanos Nordic A.B., this is intended to be a medium-to-full-bodied cigar, which is consistent with the core Juan Lopez line. Sweden and Norway will be the first to receive the new smoke, with the rest of the countries to follow.
