Davidoff Celebrates 10 Years of Escurio with Limited-Edition Cigar

Ten years ago, Davidoff Cigars released Escurio, a cigar line rolled with a blend of Brazilian and Dominican tobaccos. Today, the Swiss cigarmaker is honoring the decade-old brand with a new cigar called Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition. The celebratory smoke went on sale April 10th.
The Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary comes in a single Gran Toro size, measuring 6 inches by 56 ring gauge. Unlike regular-production Escurio cigars, this special release incorporates tobaccos with extra age and a filler leaf that spent six months resting in a spent Bourbon cask.
The cigar is rolled with a four-year-old wrapper from Ecuador, a nine-year-old binder from Brazil and a mix of aged Dominican and Brazilian fillers. This includes a nine-year-old Brazilian filler, an eight-year-old Dominican filler, and three additional five-year-old Dominican fillers. One of the Dominican fillers was cask-aged for half a year to give the tobacco additional sweetness and depth.
In total, Davidoff says the cigar’s tobacco has a combined age of 45 years.
The company says the combination of these well-aged tobaccos gives the cigar a unique sweet-and-spicy character. Lighting up, it starts creamy and toasty, with notes of cappuccino, praline and vanilla bean. The smoke then transitions to show touches of leather, dried apricot and licorice. Near the end of its burn time, spicier intonations are balanced by hints of bittersweet chocolate, almond and acacia honey.
Released in 2015, Escurio is part of Davidoff’s Black Band collection, a series of cigars designed to be more intense than the company’s White Band lineup. Davidoff’s Black Band collection also includes Davidoff Yamasá, which came to market in 2016. The cigars in the collection are adorned with jet black cigar bands marked by metallic embellishments.
The Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition is the second anniversary cigar in the Black Band collection, following the Davidoff Nicaragua 10th Anniversary Limited Edition.
Rolled at the Cigars Davidoff factory in the Dominican Republic, the Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary ships in 12-count wooden boxes. The varnished, slide-lid boxes are black and emerald-hued and adorned with a repeating Davidoff Escurio pattern.
Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary has a suggested retail price of $37 per cigar. Only 15,750 boxes will be released worldwide.
