Dominique London Acquires La Casa Del Habano in Basel

The Casa del Habano cigar shop in Basel, Switzerland is now part of Dominique London, a newly formed retail group that controls nearly 20 cigar shops including other throughout the U.K. and Belgium.
The newly acquired Basel store has been a Casa del Habano for 25 years. Like all La Casa del Habano retail shops, the Basel location deals exclusively in Cuban cigars. It’s situated in the city’s banking district and is one of four Casas in Switzerland—the other three being in Zurich, Lugano and Nyon.
Created in March of this year, Dominique London is a merger between London retailer C.Gars Ltd. and La Casa del Tabaco Group of Belgium. The company now operates a European portfolio of luxury boutiques that specialize in cigars and spirits. C.Gars founder Mitchell Orchant serves as the company’s chief commercial officer while Dominique Gyselinck, founder of the La Casa del Tabaco Group, is the COO.
“Switzerland has a tradition for fine tobacco that dates back to the 16th century so we are very proud to become part of such history,” Orchant said. “Basel has long offered draws that attract visitors from all over the world. We will be delighted to meet their cigar needs as well as serve the local community.”
La Casa del Habano is the retail arm of Habanos S.A., global distributor of Cuban cigars. According to Habanos, there are more than 150 La Casa del Habano shops across 65 countries worldwide. Each year Habanos S.A. produces cigars made especially for those retail locations.
