In a couple weeks’ time, Luciano Cigars, will be attending this year’s PCA trade show in Las Vegas to display some of his newest releases and among them are two cigar lines he made in collaboration with Salih Dalay, owner of Dalay Zigarren, the company who distributes his cigars in . One of the new lines features a tobacco not typically seen in the cigar industry, and it will only be available for preorder by those who attend the show.

Called Dalay Istanbul, the cigars are made in tribute to the ancient city in Turkey, known in the world as the bridge where East meets West, and also to Dalay’s Turkish heritage. The cigars are made with a mixture of tobaccos, only some of them ones that are commonly seen in the cigar industry such as the Ecuador Corojo ’99 wrapper, Pennsylvania broadleaf binder and the Dominican leaves that make up part of the filler. The remainder filler leaves are from Turkey and Kentucky, which don’t typically appear in cigars.

Rolled in the Dominican Republic at the Zaubergberg factory, Dalay Istanbul comes in the following three sizes: Principe, measuring 4 1/2 inches by 46 ring gauge ($17); Robusto, 5 by 50 ($18); and Toro, 5 1/2 by 54 ($20).

The tribute to Istanbul is further reflected in the cigar’s packaging. The inner lid and cigar bands feature a reproduction of a painting by Turkish artist Hasan Kale. The original painting will be on display at the Luciano Cigars booth at the trade show.

Shipping in white boxes of 10, production will be limited to 1,000 boxes for the U.S. market. Another 500 boxes are being released in .

Along with Dalay Istanbul there will be another line of cigars on display called Dalay Nicaragua. Blended by Meirelles and rolled at his Arapiraca and the other is Ecuador Habano 2000) and Nicaraguan filler from four different regions.

Shipping in boxes of 20, Dalay Nicaragua is available in the following vitolas: Corona Gorda, 5 1/2 by 46 ($10.50); Robusto, 5 by 50 ($11.50); Toro, 6 by 52 ($12.50); and Gran Toro, 6 1/2 by 56 ($13.30). At this time, the cigars are rolled but the packaging remains unfinished.

Both lines are expected to arrive at retailers by the end of July.

Dalay Zigarren will be distributed in the U.S. by Luciano Cigars.
