Tatuaje Turns 20, Celebrates With Two New Smokes
Twenty years ago, nobody knew who or what Tatuaje was. The word was difficult to pronounce, the small Miami factory where the cigars were made was obscure and the people behind the brand—all that has changed and Johnson has created two cigars to mark two successful decades in the business.
Made in Nicaragua at the My Father Cigars factory, the Tatuaje 20th Grande Merveille and Grand Chaseur will be unveiled at this week’s PCA trade show in Las Vegas. The cigars are expected to ship by August.
The Grande Merveille measures 6 1/8 inches long by 46 ring gauge and has a suggested retail price of $13 per cigar while the Grand Chasseur measures 6 3/8 by 54. Both cigars are made with covered, uncut feet and consist of an Ecuador Habano wrapper around a Nicaraguan blend. They come packaged in 20-count boxes.
Like the Tatuaje Bon Chasseur, which celebrated Tatuaje’s 10th anniversary in 2003, these new sizes will be part of the regular-production line.
Tatuaje cigars have received high ratings over the years in Cigar Aficionado and Cigar Insider blind tastings, with repeat appearances on the magazine’s Top 25 list. Most recently, the Tatuaje Capa Especial Cohete was named No. 22 cigar of 2022, with a score of 92 points.
