Ferio Tego Metropolitan Selection Shipping Now

Ferio Tego Metropolitan Selection is shipping this week. The collection spans three countries, several blends and two dozen sizes.

Metropolitan Connecticut and Maduro are rolled by Quesada Cigars in the Dominican Republic. The blend—described as mellow—has Dominican filler and binder tobaccos. The Connecticut version is wrapped in Connecticut shade, the Maduro in Connecticut broadleaf. Each blend comes in six sizes, ranging in length from 4 1/2 to 7 inches, and from 50 ring gauge all the way up to 66. Suggested retail prices range from $7.25 to $10.75 per cigar. All are packed in boxes of 18 cigars, save for the fattest size, Banker (5 by 66), which is packed 10 to the box.

Metropolitan Habano, made by Plasencia Cigars in Nicaragua, is entirely Nicaraguan and intended to be medium in body. It comes in four sizes, none of them slimmer than 52 ring gauge. (One size is the short and squat Gordito, which measures 4 by 60.) Suggested retail prices in this line range from $8.75 to $10, and each comes in a box of 18.

Metropolitan Host and Host Maduro are rolled in Honduras, by AgroIndustrias Diadema. The filler and binder on each are Honduran, with the Host rolled with a Connecticut shade wrapper, the maduro a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper. There are five sizes of Host, from the 5 1/2 by 44 Hamilton to the 7 by 50 Hampton and the 6 by 60 Hyde, with suggested retail prices ranging from $6.80 to $10. Three of the sizes are available in the maduro version, ranging in price from $7.50 to $10, and they come in boxes of 18.

Metropolitan used to be part of Nat Sherman, and sold as Nat Sherman Metropolitan. The cigar brand (along with other former Nat Sherman cigar brands) are now owned by Ferio Tego LLC, which has worked to bring back these blends as consumers them from the Nat Sherman days.

The cigar boxes and bands say Metropolitan, and each cigar in the Metropolitan Selection lines wear secondary bands that read “Exclusive for Ferio Tego.” They are distributed in the United States by Davidoff of Geneva.
