What happens when you take a benchmark Cuban cigar like the Romeo y Julieta Churchill and make it shorter and fatter? The answer is the Wide Churchill, which is one of the thickest cigars in the Cuban portfolio. It’s also one of the best Cubans we smoked all year (box date: December 2023). Habanos seems to have taken all the magical elements of the Churchill and condensed them into this plump format. The smoke is earthy and leathery, accented by notes of graham cracker, cinnamon, orange peel and honey. Romeo’s Churchill series has become a brand within a brand with four different Romeo sizes bearing the Churchill name. —Gregory Mottola
