Quesada To Debut IPR-Exclusive Casa Magna, New Oktoberfest Sizes

Quesada Cigars will be introducing a new Casa Magna at the IPR trade show, but with one restriction: only retailers attending the convention will be able to carry it in their shops. The two new Oktoberfest sizes the cigar company plans to also unveil at the show, though, will be less exclusive.

The Casa Magna Jalapa Claro features the same Nicaraguan binder and filler as the original cigar that won Cigar of the Year in 2008, but the wrapper has been replaced with a light claro leaf from Nicaragua's Jalapa Valley. The Jalapa Claro will come packed in 20-count boxes in three sizes: a 6 inch by 58 ring gauge Toro; 6 by 50 Box Pressed Toro; and 5 1/2 by 54 Robusto. The cigars are priced from $6.65 to $7.65, and are being rolled in Nicaragua at Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Estelí.

"With the current regulatory environment, the IPR is a crucial organization to ensuring the future of the cigar industry, and so we want to reward those who it by attending the annual trade show with this exclusive edition of our most acclaimed brand," said Terence Reilly of Quesada Cigars.

The Quesada family will also debut two new limited sizes of Oktoberfest, one for the Nicaraguan puro line and the other in the Dominican puro line. The Quesada Oktoberfest brand was created in 2011 as a limited-edition seasonal smoke intended to pair with the Märzen-style beers served in Munich during Oktoberfest.

The all-Nicaraguan Triple Bock is 6 inches by 56 ring gauge and will come packed in a house-shaped box that holds 24 cigars, each retailing for $9.50. The Dominican version, dubbed Kugel in honor of the German casserole dish, is a 5 by 58 perfecto that retails for $7.50 and comes in boxes of 10.
