Altadis Brings Back H. Upmann Ingot

The gold bars are back. It’s been eight years since Altadis U.S.A. first put the Ingot into circulation. The brand was a spinoff of The Banker By H. Upmann, and came packaged in boxes that resembled ingots of gold bullion. Like the original release, the The Banker By H. Upmann Ingot is presented in the same flashy packaging. Initial shipments are expected to leave the warehouse on November 22.
The limited-edition Ingot plays off The Banker’s financial theme (Herman Upmann, the brand’s namesake, was a banker before he created a cigar) and comes in one size called Arbitrage, a hefty Churchill measuring 7 inches by 56 ring gauge. The blend, however, differs from the previous version: Ecuador Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. They are made in the Dominican Republic at Tabacalera de Garcia.
Despite the golden theme, the cigars are a relatively affordable $15 each, or $180 for a box. Only 5,000 boxes of 12 are being released. For a rating of the new The Banker By H. Upmann Ingot, see a future issue of Cigar Insider.
