Casa Turrent Adds New Sizes to its 1880 Lines
Mexican cigarmaker Casa Turrent is expanding its 1880 series by adding four more sizes to each of its four 1880 lines. After debuting at the PCA trade show in Las Vegas on July 9, the new cigars will start shipping in August and will be staggered into the market throughout the rest of 2021.
All four blends in the series will be getting a Lancero, measuring 7 1/2 by 40 ($16.80); followed by the Robusto, 5 1/4 by 55 ($16.20) in September; Perfecto, 5 1/2 by 54 ($16.60) in October; and Short Robusto, 4 3/4 by 52 ($13.80) in November. All four versions of each size will ship in boxes of ten.
Claro, consists of a Mexican Habano Criollo San Andrés claro wrapper with a Mexican Negro San Andrés binder and a mix of Mexican and Dominican filler.
Colorado is rolled with a Mexican Negro San Andrés colorado cover leaf around a Mexican Habano Criollo San Andrés binder and assorted Mexican fillers.
Oscuro is made entirely of Mexican Habano Criollo San Andrés tobacco, except for the Mexican Negro San Andrés binder.
Maduro combines a near-black Negro San Andrés maduro wrapper with Habano Criollo San Andrés binder and filler tobacco from Nicaragua and Mexico.
All the Mexican tobaccos used were grown by the Turrents.
Distribution for the cigars in the U.S. will be handled by Sutliff Tobacco Co. The agreement was signed back in November 2020 and goes into effect after the trade show.
