Cuban Por Larrañaga Made Just For The U.K. Coming Next Month

Through a series of synchronized events around the United Kingdom, Habanos distributor Hunters & Frankau will be releasing the Por Larrañaga Larrañaga 47, a Regional Edition Churchill that comes packaged in 50-count boxes. The Cuban cigars are scheduled to launch on November 1 at 47 simultaneous cigar retailers and hospitality venues across England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
The Larrañaga 47 measures 7 inches long by 47 ring gauge—the same dimensions as the Romeo y Julieta Churchill, one of Cuba’s benchmark cigars. (In Cuban cigar factories, the size is called Julieta No. 2.) The new Por Larrañaga will retail for £76 each (around $92.40) or £3,638 for the entire box of 50, which works out to around $4,424.
Although Havana’s mother factory for the Por Larrañaga brand, this new Regional Edition is made in Cuba’s eastern province of Holguín at a smaller factory called Empresa de Acopio, Beneficio y Torcido de Tabaco Holguín. According to Hunters & Frankau, this factory was chosen “due to its longstanding association with the Julieta No. 2 size and, in particular, the Romeo y Julieta Churchill, which is a specialty there.”
This is the first time that a semi boîte nature box. Only 1,500 boxes of the Larrañaga 47 are being produced for a total run of 75,000 cigars. The cigars will be for sale on retailer shelves the day after the events.
