Gellis Family Absolutos On Its Way To Retailers
It was originally planned to launch last month, but Absolutos from Gellis Family (a Warped subsidiary) is just shipping now. If you went to the PCA trade show last week and visited the Warped booth, you may have tried Absolutos, as company owner Kyle Gellis was handing out samples to retailers. It’s the first all-Nicaraguan cigar sold under the Gellis Family umbrella.
The Absolutos brand is made in Nicaragua at the NACSA factory and composed of tobacco from Nicaragua’s four major growing regions: Estelí, Ometepe, Condega and Jalapa. All of the tobaccos for Absolutos were grown out in open sunlight, including the wrapper, which is unusual as many cigar wrappers are typically grown under shade (the filtered light makes for more pristine leaves). Sun-grown tobacco tends to be darker, coarser and thicker.
Packaged in 14-count boxes, Absolutos comes in two sizes: Corona Gorda, measuring 5 1/2 inches by 48 ring gauge ($13), and a 6-by-52 Toro ($14).
Gellis launched Gellis Family last year as a way to diversify his portfolio by creating different cigar lines that do not bear the Warped name. Gellis Family debuted with the Piece Unique.
