General Cigars Take Flight with Cohiba C8 Travel Set

A new extremely limited-edition cigar from General Cigar Co. called Cohiba C8, which comes as part of a fancy travel set, is expected to land at select retailers tomorrow.
Made at the General Cigar Dominicana factory in Santiago, the C8 consists of an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper, Connecticut broadleaf binder and a host of selected fillers, some of which have been aging for decades. The three-country filler blend includes Dominican Piloto Cubano harvested in 1995; Honduran Olancho San Agustín from 2002; Nicaraguan Estelí leaves from both 2011 and 2014 harvests; and Honduran Jamastran from 2014.
The filler tobaccos were aged in tercios made of Royal Palm bark followed by additional aging in Spanish sherry casks.
The C8 is a rather hefty cigar, measuring 7 1/4 inches by 54 ring gauge. In the red and silver matte box, will be 10 silver tubos of C8. The box is enclosed in a soft black briefcase, which also includes an S.T. Dupont cutter and lighter.
Only 50 sets of this travel set will be released and will be for sale at U.S. duty-free locations and cigar shops. The retail price for the entire set is $2,500.
