Highlights From The 2025 PCA Trade Show

May 6, 2025 | By Gregory Mottola
Highlights From The 2025 PCA Trade Show

It used to be called the RTDA. Then the IPR. Now, it’s known as the PCA ( Cigar Association) trade show, and there is no time of the year when so much of the cigar industry is all in one place. The trade show is a product pavilion where retailers from around the United States can peruse new and releases from cigar companies of all sizes, and Cigar Aficionado was there. This year’s show was held in New Orleans, and according to the PCA, it sured the 2024 show in Las Vegas, as both retailer and exhibitor attendance was up by 10 percent. The showroom was rife with new, interesting cigars, and anniversaries also played a big role this year, ranging from 10-year milestones all the way to 150. Some of the new cigars are shipping now. Others won’t be out until later in the year. Here’s a list of highlights that we thought really stood out.

JFR 20th Anniversary

AGANORSA LEAF
JFR 20th Anniversary

The initials stand for “Just For Retailers,” and the idea was to give retailers a cigar with quality tobacco at a competitive price. That was 20 years ago. Two decades later, Aganorsa Leaf has introduced the celebratory 20th Anniversary. With the exception of the Mexican wrapper, all the tobacco was grown by Aganorsa, the grower/manufacturer that produces the cigar at its factory in Estelí as well. Three of its four box-pressed sizes measure 60 ring gauge or more. Two sizes are conventionally named, Toro (at 6 1/2 inches by 52 ring gauge) and Titan (6 by 60), while the other two are named after their dimensions: 4 3/4 x 70; and 7 x 70. Suggested retail prices range between $9.50 and $12.50 apiece.

New World Decenio

A.J. FERNANDEZ
New World Decenio

Besides a recent fire at the company’s main factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, growth has been nothing but positive for A.J. Fernandez during his 10 years in business. He celebrates a decade of prosperity with New World Decenio (“decade” in Spanish). The blend consists of a Mexican cover leaf, Nicaraguan binder and a mix of fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras. Naturally, Fernandez grew the Nicaraguan tobacco in the cigar. The line is available in three softly box-pressed sizes: Robusto, Toro and Gordo. Suggested retail prices are expected to range between $12.50 to $15 each. This is the sixth brand in the New World series.

Also: Fernandez has collaborated with cigarmaker Eladio Diaz, who is making Enclave by Eladio Diaz at his factory in the Dominican Republic. It’s an all-Dominican cigar with the exception of the Ecuadoran wrapper and comes in three sizes—Robusto, Toro and Gordo—that retail for $9 to $10 each.

Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua Concerto

ALTADIS U.S.A.
Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua Concerto

Rafael Nodal of Altadis U.S.A. continues to expand his Aging Room series with the Concerto. It’s made by A.J. Fernandez in Nicaragua and features tobacco from his Los Espejos farm that Altadis says is 12 years old. All the tobacco is from Nicaragua, and the Concerto line comes in six sizes ranging from $14.84 to $17.08 per cigar: Espressivo (5 by 50); Maestro (6 by 52), Vibrato (6 by 54); Concerto (7 by 50); Grande (6 by 60); and the figurado-shaped Impromptu (6 by 52).

Romeo y Julieta 150th Anniversary

Romeo y Julieta 150th Anniversary
The Romeo brand has been around for a century and a half, and Altadis celebrates its longevity with this brand. The blend comes from top tobacco growers in the industry: An Ecuador Sumatra wrapper from A.J. Fernandez; a Mexican binder from the Turrent family; Peruvian and Honduran filler from the Plasencia family; and Dominican filler from José Mendez & Co. It comes in three sizes ranging in retail price from $25 to $28: Prologue (5 by 50), Balconet (6 by 54) and Crescendo (7 by 50). They’re made in the Dominican Republic at Tabacalera de Garcia.

Also: The Balconet is offered in decorative three-count tins ($81) and a limited-edition humidor ($5,700) contains the entire collection, plus a Belicoso that’s only available in this package.

Trinidad Espiritu Miami Edition

Trinidad Espiritu Miami Edition
Despite the name, the new Trinidad Miami Edition is made in Nicaragua, rather than Miami. Instead, it strives to capture the city’s vibrant spirit. This limited edition is an all-Nicaraguan Belicoso made by A.J. Fernandez. It measures 6 1/8 by 52 and retails for $15 per cigar. Only 4,000 boxes of 20 are being produced.

Also: The H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez Heritage Finca Providencia, is a single-estate blend that’s made solely of tobacco from the La Providencia farm in Estelí, which is owned by cigarmaker and leaf grower A.J. Fernandez. He makes the cigar in Nicaragua as well. It comes in a Toro size that retails for $20. Only 8,250 boxes are being produced.

Viva La Vida Connecticut

ARTESANO DEL TOBACCO
Viva La Vida Connecticut

The small company known for full-bodied cigars now has a milder blend. Viva La Vida Connecticut is a lighter version of the core Viva La Vida line. Both are made in Nicaragua by A.J. Fernandez, but this brand is composed of a lighter Nicaraguan blend and Ecuador Connecticut wrapper. It comes in two sizes—Robusto and Toro—that retail for $14.50 and $15 each. Both are packaged in 10-count boxes.

Black Pink

ARTURO FUENTE CIGAR CO.
Black Pink

A darker follow-up to the Rare Pink Vintage 1960’s Series, Black Pink is covered in a near-black wrapper (Connecticut Habano). It will come in four perfecto-shaped sizes, most of which are in the core line: Happy Ending (5 1/2 by 53), Signature (6 by 46), Work of Art (4 7/8 by 60) and Black Panther (details have not been disclosed). Pricing and release dates are still to be determined, but the cigars are made by Fuente in the Dominican Republic.

Don Carlos 90 Años

Don Carlos 90 Años
Carlos Fuente Sr. would have turned 90 years old this year and to celebrate, Fuente is doing something experimental. You’ve heard of cigars that have two binders, but how about two wrappers? This blend features the Cameroon wrapper typically found on Don Carlos cigars, but it’s underneath a Dominican Corojo cover leaf. These Dominican-made Robusto Extras come in 90-count chests and will retail for $13 each.

River Valley Rare Earth

River Valley Rare Earth
The “River Valley” is a reference to the Connecticut River Valley where the wrapper is grown. “Rare Earth” alludes to not only the Valley’s small micro climate but the rare nature of the wrapper, a hybrid cross of Habano seed and broadleaf. It’s an extension of the Añejado line (which is made with broadleaf). Details such sizes, prices and release date were not available.

Also: Don Carlos Sangre de Toro will be the only Fuente made with Mexican wrapper. The company decided to put the dark cover leaf on a Don Carlos Edición Aniversario cigar, which consists primarily of Dominican tobacco. Translating to “blood of the bull” the brand comes in multiple sizes, though details were sparse.

La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut

ASHTON DISTIBRUTORS INC.
La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut, New Sizes

It’s not a new line, as it was launched in 2023, but Ashton added two new sizes and sold them at the show: Belicoso (5 1/2 by 52) and Double Corona (7 1/2 by 54). They retail for $9.25 and $9.75, respectively. La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut is made in Nicaragua by My Father Cigars and is an all-Nicaraguan cigar, save for the Ecuador Connecticut wrapper.

E.P. Carrillo Essence Series Connecticut

CASA CARRILLO
E.P. Carrillo Essence Series Connecticut

It’s made in Honduras at AgroIndustrias Diadema. The three sizes are: Corona, measuring 5 1/2 by 44 ($8.75); Robusto, 5 by 50 ($9.25); and Toro, 6 by 52 ($10). All sizes come in boxes of 24.

C.L.E. Maduro

C.L.E. CIGAR CO.
C.L.E. Maduro

The Honduran cigarmaker has expanded its flagship brand with a maduro line. It’s a medium-to-full-bodied blend of Honduran tobacco and a Mexican San Andrés wrapper. The line is available in five sizes, most of which are named for their dimensions: 40 x 4 ($5); 50 x 5 ($10.66); 54 x 6 ($11.36) and 60 x 6 ($11.66). The fifth size, the 11/18 ($11.16) is a figurado that’s 6 inches long and 54 ring gauge at its thickest point. All sizes come in 20-count boxes.

Crowned Heads Broadway

CROWNED HEADS
Crowned Heads Broadway

Broadway is a tribute to two things. Firstly, it pays homage to the central music thoroughfare of downtown Nashville, which is company co-founder Jon Huber’s hometown. Secondly, it refers to the cigar’s broadleaf wrapper (the rest of the tobacco is Nicaraguan). Made in Nicaragua at the NACSA factory, Broadway comes in three sizes, Robusto Extra, Epicure and Toro. The cigars are packaged in 21-count cabinets and retail for $11.95 to $12.95.

OZ Family Cigars Karatoba

OZ Family Cigars Karatoba
These all-Nicaraguan cigars are made in Nicaragua at NACSA and come in four sizes, ranging in price from $12 to $13 apiece: Toro, Robusto, Robusto Extra and Gordo. Karatoba is a portmanteau that combines the Turkish word for dark (kara) with a reference to Indonesia’s Lake Toba, which sits atop a caldera formed by an old super volcano.

Gran Reserva Edición 2025

CURIVARI
Gran Reserva Edición 2025

Curivari has many brands, and they’re all made in small-production micro batches. The Gran Reserva is even smaller. According to the company, these cigars are made with Nicaraguan tobaccos from Jalapa that have been aged for 10 years. It comes in five sizes ranging from $12 to $15 each. Most of the cigars are named for their sizes: 458 (4 by 58); 554 (5 by 54); 552 (5 1/2 by 52; 654 (6 by 54); and T, a torpedo measuring 6 1/4 by 52. The all-Nicaraguan Gran Reservas come in 10-count boxes and are made in Nicaragua as well.

Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary

DAVIDOFF OF GENEVA
Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary

It’s been a decade since Davidoff released its Escurio line, and the company honors the anniversary with a limited-edition Gran Toro, measuring 6 by 56 ($37). According to Davidoff, the cigar is rolled in the Dominican Republic with a four-year-old wrapper from Ecuador, a nine-year-old binder from Brazil and a mix of aged Dominican and Brazilian fillers. One of the Dominican fillers was cask-aged in a Bourbon barrel.

The Dominican Diadema comes in a 20-count box and retails for $22 per cigar.

Camacho Limited Edition 2025

They retail for $17.50 each and come in metal canisters of 20 cigars. It’s part of a series called Boldly Built By Masters and is made in Davidoff’s Honduran factory.

ESPINOSA CIGARS
Knuckle Sandwich Puro Nicaragua

Knuckle Sandwich—the three-way collaboration between Espinosa Cigars, A.J. Fernandez and television personality Guy Fieri—is coming in a new blend made only with Nicaraguan tobacco. It’s called Knuckle Sandwich Puro Nicaragua, and like the other brands in the series, is made in Nicaragua at A.J. Fernandez’s San Lotano factory in Ocotál. This brings the Knuckle Sandwich series to four lines.

Los Menesteres 30th Anniversary

FALTO CIGARS
Los Menesteres 30th Anniversary

Luís Falto has been a cigar brand owner for 30 years and his new Los Menesteres is an anniversary smoke. It’s made in the Dominican Republic by La Aurora S.A. (as are all his cigars), and consists of a Dominican Criollo ’98 wrapper and filler blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco. In between the wrapper and filler are two binders: one a Mexican San Andrés and the other, Cameroon. It measures 6 3/8 by 49 and retails for $14.

Foundation 10 Year Aniversario

FOUNDATION CIGAR CO.
Foundation 10 Year Aniversario

Like many at this year’s show, Foundation is celebrating a decade in the industry and marking the milestone with the Foundation 10 Year Aniversario. It’s a large Salomon-style smoke made in Nicaragua by A.J. Fernandez and features a hybrid wrapper grown in Connecticut. Underneath is a Brazilian Mata Fina binder that holds together an entirely Nicaraguan filler blend. It measures 7 by 58 at its fattest point and will retail for $35 each or $350 per 10-count box.

Puro Collection 1821 Dominican Republic

FRATELLO CIGARS

The first in the new series is called Fratello 1821 Dominican Republic, and it’s an entirely Dominican cigar, made in the Dominican Republic at La Aurora S.A. The 1821 Dominican Republic comes in one size, a hefty toro measuring 6 by 58. It comes in a colorful 12-count box and has a suggested retail price of $18.21 per cigar.

La Gloria Cubana Los Gloriosos

GENERAL CIGAR CO.
La Gloria Cubana Los Gloriosos

In a reunion of sorts, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo has collaborated with his former employer, General Cigar, and blended a new La Gloria Cubana (General purchased the La Gloria brand from Perez-Carrillo in the ’90s). Los Gloriosos is made at Perez-Carrillo’s factory in the Dominican Republic and is a composition of Ecuador Habano wrapper and two Nicaraguan binder leaves (one from Jalapa, the other Estelí). The filler is a mix of Nicaraguan tobaccos from Jalapa and Condega, along with some Dominican Corojo ’99. It comes in three sizes: Toro ($8.99), Gigante ($9.99) and Grandioso ($10.99). The line ships in boxes of 20.

Partagas y Nada Más Santiago

Partagas y Nada Más Santiago
Although the original Partagas brand was born in Cuba, this new line pays tribute to its time as a Dominican cigar. But this is a departure for General, which normally produces its Partagas cigars in the General Cigar Dominicana factory. Instead, the new Y Nada Más Santiago is made by William Ventura. It comes in a Ecuador Habano 2000 wrapper, Indonesian Sumatra binder and filler blend of Dominican Piloto and Corojo, Ecuadoran tobacco and American broadleaf. Three sizes are available—Robusto, Toro and Gordo—that will retail from $7.99 to $9.99.

Room101 Johnny Tobacconaut 10th Anniversary

Room101 Johnny Tobacconaut 10th Anniversary

Fernandez in Nicaragua and is a full-bodied blend of all-Nicaraguan tobacco. The 6-by-52 Toro will retail for $11.99 apiece.

It’s made in Honduras with Nicaraguan tobacco and an undisclosed wrapper that brand owner George Rico says is a hybrid. A price for the Corona has yet to be established.

Epernay Tuonela

ILLUSIONE
Epernay Tuonela

It’s been 16 years since Illusione launched its Epernay line. This year, Epernay is getting a brand extension. Tuonela has the same interior Honduran tobaccos as the core Epernay line, but the wrapper is a slightly darker leaf of Mexican San Andrés. Brand owner Dion Giolito is clear that this is not a maduro, but characterizes the wrapper as more of a colorado shade that’s slightly darker than that of the core line. It comes in four sizes: Le Ferme (5 1/4 by 48), Le Taureau (5 1/2 by 56), Le Grande (6 by 46) and Le Monde (6 1/4 by 52). They will retail in the $12 to $15 range. Sarzedas

J.C. NEWMAN CIGAR CO.
Sarzedas

Now headquartered in Tampa, Florida, J.C. Newman has roots dating back to 1895 that originate in Cleveland, Ohio. The company revived one of its old 100-year-old brands, Sarzedas, and put it on display at the trade show. They’re produced in Nicaragua at J.C. Newman’s PENSA factory and made with lightly-hued Ecuador wrappers. Binder and filler tobaccos come from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Sarzedas will be available in four sizes: Corona, Robusto, Toro and Churchill. Prices have yet to be set, but J.C. Newman estimates them to be in the neighborhood of $8 to $10 per cigar.

Antaño Connecticut Gran Consul

JOYA DE NICARAGUA
Antaño Connecticut Gran Consul

Six years ago, Joya de Nicaragua released Antaño Connecticut, a milder version of its Antaño 1970 line, but it was never offered in the plump Gran Consul size—until now. Gran Consul is a very fat belicoso, measuring 4 3/4 by 60 ring gauge. The cigar is all Nicaraguan, save for the Connecticut-seed wrapper from Ecuador. Gran Consuls come 20 per box and retail for $11 per cigar. Only 250 boxes are being produced exclusively for select retailers.

Family Creed Fuerte Sol

LA AURORA
Family Creed Fuerte Sol

Fuerte Sol is the first edition in La Aurora’s new Family Creed series, and it’s a medium-to-full-bodied blend of Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and filler combination of Pennsylvanian, Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco. The cigars are made in the Dominican Republic at La Aurora S.A., and come in two box-pressed sizes—Robusto and Toro—that retail for $15.50 and $18, respectively. Both are packaged in 20-count boxes. A Gran Toro is expected to ship toward the end of the year.

Suave

LA FLOR DOMINICANA
Suave

This is a complete re-blending of an existing, mild line of the same name. Litto Gomez decided to revisit the old Suave brand and re-tool it to accommodate more modern tastes. The Suave Natural is made with an Ecuadoran Corojo wrapper, Mexican binder and Dominican filler. The Grand Maduro is covered in a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and Dominican fillers. Natural comes in three sizes: Maceo (5 by 48), Maximo (6 by 54) and Gobernador (6 1/4 by 60), while the Grand Maduro comes in only two sizes: No. 5 (6 1/4 by 52) and the No. 6 torpedo (5 3/4 by 54). Prices will range from $8.40 to $12.80.

La Galera

LA GALERA
New Sizes, Half Corona

Based on the success of the La Galera Habano and Connecticut Half Coronas (which come in 5-count tins), the company will be offering four more blends in the tinned, Half Corona format: Maduro (Mexican wrapper), 1936 Box Pressed (Ecuador Habano wrapper), Anemoi (broadleaf wrapper) and Imperial Jade (Cameroon wrapper). The rest of the tobacco is from the Dominican Republic where La Galera cigars are produced. Each half corona measures 3 1/2 inches by 46 and the 5-count tins will retail for $36.19 each.

My Father Blue

MY FATHER CIGARS
My Father Blue

It isn’t often that a cigar company sets up an entirely new tobacco-growing and manufacturing operation in another country, but that’s exactly what My Father has done. They now have fields and a factory in Honduras (in addition to the Nicaraguan and Miami operations), and the inaugural Honduran brand is called My Father Blue. Besides the Connecticut rosado broadleaf wrapper, all the tobacco (Corojo and Criollo varietals) comes from the Garcias’ Honduran farm. Prices range from $9 to $13 per cigar, and they’re offered in four sizes: Petit Robusto, Robusto, Toro and Toro Gordo.

Also: The Don Pepin Garcia Series JJ line has been on the market for two decades. My Father celebrates the brand’s longevity with the Serie JJ 20th Anniversary, an all-Nicaraguan cigar that comes in a Toro and a slightly darker Salomon. Both retail for $22.

Nub

OLIVA CIGAR CO.
NUB, New Packaging

While Oliva did not unveil any new cigars at the show, the company displayed the new packaging for its NUB brand, which is a line of short, fat cigars made in Nicaragua. The boxes used to have a natural wood finish, but are now rendered in a gleaming shade of white. NUB was introduced in 2008 and comes in four primary blends: Habano, Maduro, Cameroon and Connecticut. Most sizes are 4 inches long and range in thickness form 58 ring gauge all the way up to 66.

Padrón Black PB-99

PADRÓN CIGARS INC.
Padrón Black PB-99

The 99 in the name honors what would have been the 99th birthday of the late company founder José O. Padrón. Padrón Black is its own brand and not part of the core “brown label” line or any of the Anniversary series. They tend to be large cigars with full-bodied blends. The PB-99 will come in maduro and natural versions and measures 6 3/4 by 60. Hand-rolled in Nicaragua using Nicaraguan tobaccos, the cigars are slated to retail for $44 each before taxes, and will come in boxes of 10. Shipping is expected in September.

Alma del Cielo

PLASENCIA CIGARS
Alma del Cielo

The fourth line in the five-part Alma series, Alma del Cielo features tobacco grown in the mountains of Condega, Nicaragua. That high-altitude tobacco is part of the filler, while the wrapper is from Jalapa. The rest of the tobacco comes from various farms throughout Nicaragua, all owned by the Plasencia family. Three sizes are available. There is Celeste, a robusto measuring 4 7/8 by 52 ($25), Boreal, a toro that’s 6 1/8 by 54 ($27.50) and Amanecer, a 6-by-60, hexagonally pressed smoke ($29.50). All come in 10-count boxes. Alma del Cielo is made in Nicaragua at the Plasencia Cigars factory.

Rocky Patel

ROCKY PATEL
30th Anniversary

Rocky Patel is celebrating 30 years in the cigar business with the release of Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary, a three-size line of box-pressed cigars rolled with well-aged tobaccos. The anniversary smokes are dark, rolled with wrapper grown in Mexico’s San Andrés Valley. There are two binder leaves from Nicaragua, leaves the company says have more than seven years of age. Underneath is a filler blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos, aged more than five years. The line will consist of a Robusto ($17), a Toro ($18) and a Sixty ($19). There’s a limited-edition toro available as well for $47.50, though details on this were scarce. Both are made at Patel’s Tavicusa factory in Nicaragua.

Foreign & Domestic

ROMACRAFT TOBAC
Foreign & Domestic

The latest in RomaCraft’s Maquette series. Foreign & Domestic comes in paper-wrapped packs of 10 cigars, each measuring 4 by 46, and each box-pressed. Tatuaje

TATUAJE
Tatuaje Corojo

Pete Johnson of Tatuaje likes to play with wrapper leaf. Over the last few years, he’s put different wrappers on some of his existing Tatuaje sizes as an experiment to see just how much influence the wrapper has on a cigar. This year, he’s doing the same thing, only with a Nicaraguan Corojo-seed cover leaf grown by the Garcia family. The following cigars will be available this year in a Corojo wrapper: 7th Corona Gorda (5 5/8 by 46, $9.50); T110 (4 3/8 by 52, $11), Cohetes (4 by 50, $10) and Avion 13 (6 7/8 by 52, estimated $13). These are made in Nicaragua at My Father Cigars.

Gold & Bullet

THE OPUSX SOCIETY
Gold & Bullet

It’s a new line of cigars, lighters and cutters from the OpusX Society, a luxury lifestyle company that specializes in Fuente Fuente OpusX branded products. The full name of the release is The Society’s Chronicles, Episodio Uno: Gold & Bullet. On the accessories end, The Society showed a lighter and cutter set from Elie Bleu, both etched with OpusX Society branding. The cigar is a Fuente Fuente OpusX Toro that measures 6 3/4 by 50 and made exclusively for the Society. Founder Manny Iriarte says it's stronger than last year’s release. He’s disclosing neither blend specifics nor price, but one thing is certain: these cigars will not be cheap.

Villiger

VILLIGER CIGARS NORTH AMERICA
Villiger 1888 Gran Reserva

Villiger defines a “Gran Reserva” as any cigar that’s made with tobacco aged for two years in bales, and then aged for a minimum of one year after it’s rolled. This year’s Gran Reserva consists of a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Ecuador Habano binder and Nicaraguan filler. It measures 6 by 54 and comes in 10-count boxes, at $22 per cigar. Only 1,000 boxes are being produced. The Gran Reserva is made in Nicaragua at the Villiger Cigars de Nicaragua factory.

Warped

WARPED CIGARS
Corto Maduro

Now that the Corto brand is 10 years old, Warped thinks it’s time to take it into darker, stronger territory. Warped Maduro is a box-pressed robusto called X46, which measures 4 1/2 by 46. Besides the dark, Mexican San Andrés wrapper, all the tobacco is Nicaraguan. It’s a full-bodied blend fueled by the filler’s medio tiempo tobacco from Estelí. While the core line is made at Aganorsa Leaf in Nicaragua, Warped has contracted the NACSA factory (also in Nicaragua) to produce Corto Maduro, which comes in 20-count boxes and retails for $12.95 per cigar.

Devil Crab

WEST TAMPA TOBACCO CO.
Devil Crab

Ever have a deviled crab croquette? If you’re a Tampa native, you’ve probably tried this Ybor City original at least once. And West Tampa Tobacco Co. believes that deviled crab mirrors the cigar industry, as both are a reflection of the diverse Spanish, Cuban and Italian immigrant communities that settled in the area. So, West Tampa named a cigar after this regional favorite. The perfecto shape even resembles the shape of the croquettes. These 4 1/2-by-50 figurados come in 50-count cabs and retail for $12.99 per cigar. They’re made in Nicaragua at the Garmendia Cigar Co. factory, and while West Tampa isn’t disclosing the blend information, each box does include a recipe card for deviled crab if you want to make it at home.
