When someone suggests pairing cigars and adult beverages, whiskey or Bourbon are usually the choices that come to mind, but what about wine? Macanudo, one of America’s largest cigar brands, has partnered with boutique Napa Valley-based winery Flint Knoll to create two limited-edition cigars intended to highlight the best of both worlds. Retailers can expect the new cigars to start shipping this coming Monday, October 3.

Made at General Cigar Dominicana, Macanudo Estate Reserve Flint Knoll consists of a five-country blend: an Ecuador Connecticut cover leaf, a Connecticut broadleaf binder and a mix of Brazilian (Mata Fina), Dominican (Olor and Piloto Cubano) and Nicaraguan (Jalapa) fillers. The binder leaf underwent a special aging process, General says it was placed in French oak barrels used to hold Cabernet Savignon to impart flavors favored by Flint Knoll proprietor Aaron Michaelis.

Macanudo Estate Reserve Flint Knoll will be available in two vitolas: Toro, measuring 6 inches by 54 ring gauge and Churchill, 7 by 52. Both cigars won’t come cheap; the cigars will have suggested retail prices of $19.99 and $21.99 each.

“The collaboration with Flint Knoll is the first of its kind for Macanudo and gives us the opportunity to explore the synergies between cigar and winemaking,” said Steve Abbot, director of marketing for Macanudo via a press release. “We look forward to future collaborations with Aaron and his team as we expand the notion of what it means to be a Macanudo by bringing terroir, craftsmanship and innovation to life.”

The cigars ship in white wooden boxes containing ten cigars. Production will be limited to 2,500 boxes of each size.
