Comedian and actor Marlon Wayans is not joking when talking about his love of cigars and the launch of his new Liga Tridente Cigar brand. Wayans has just completed his “Wild Child” tour comedy performance at MGM National Harbor as he arrives at V-No @the Harbor, a wine bar and boutique in Oxon Hill, Maryland, to host a post-concert sampling and launch of the new cigars.

Liga Tridente, which is made in Honduras, is still new to market, available in around 18 stores in the United States. Wayans, who is one of the owners, says he is hoping to approximately double its retail reach for next year.

The brand comes in three blends. The Liga Tridente Habano is the largest, with three sizes, described as a medium- to full-bodied cigar. The smokes are made with Nicaraguan wrappers and binders, and a blend of fillers from Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Colombia. They range in price from $14 to $18. There’s a Robusto (5 inches long by 52 ring, $14); Toro (6 by 54, $18) and Toro Box Press (6 by 54, $18). They come 20 to the box.

The Yasuke Maduro, made with Costa Rican wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and a mix of Costa Rican and Honduran filler, comes in two sizes, a Toro (6 by 52) and a Torpedo (6 1/2 by 52). They are packed in boxes of 10. The Toro sells for $30, the Torpedo for $35.

The Liga Tridente Maduro, which is made with a mix of Nicaraguan and Columbian tobaccos, is the highest priced cigar in the line. It comes in one size, a 6-by-50 Toro. It sells for $40.

Wayans is known for films such as Scary Movie and its sequel, along with the television show “The Wayans Bros.” His new comedy special, "Marlon Wayans: Good Grief," is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. He says that his “go-to” cigar is the Liga Tridente Maduro, but he also enjoys smoking cigars made by other companies, such as the Padrón 60th Anniversary and the Liga Privada No. 9 from Drew Estate.

On this rainy, chilly evening, cigar smoke, wine and vintage R&B music provide some warmth to the night’s intimate VIP atmosphere on the outside patio deck. Wayans holds court while smoking his signature Maduro, reflecting on his long-time ion for cigars. “I used to smoke back in the day in the ’90s,” he says with a smile, before adding that he quit for a short time. Now he’s back enjoying cigars. “This time, I am doing it as both a joy and investment.”
