Dustin Johnson is one of the biggest hitters in the world of professional golf, a man with two major championships (the 2020 Masters and 2016 U.S. Open) as well as second place finishes in both the British Open and PGA Championship. He ranks No. 4 in all-time PGA Tour winnings ($75.4 million) and in 2022, he moved to LIV in a deal worth $125 million or more, according to reports.
Johnson, 39, is cool and collected, six-foot-four with a build that seems chiseled by an artist sculpting an athlete. But perhaps his greatest talent is shaking off mistakes. “I hit bad shots all the time,” he says, giving simple advice that would benefit anyone teeing up the little white ball. “I don’t let it bother me. I hit it, try to find it and I hit it again.” The approach has long been successful. He notched his first victory in his rookie season.
In 2022, Johnson married longtime girlfriend Paulina Gretzky, daughter of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky and actress Janet Jones. Johnson smokes cigars on occasion. “I like ’em, but it’s not a regular thing,” he says. When he does choose to puff, a Montecristo is his cigar of choice.
