Grant Cardone has become famous for giving advice on making money, staying healthy and getting motivated. The real-estate investor, author and social media maven is a ball of energy, a self-styled disruptor with a natural curiosity. But success didn’t come quickly. “This has been a 35-years-overnight dream come true,” he says. Raised by a single mother and ittedly a poor student, he spent years working in the auto industry, much of it unhappily, before his business fell apart. He then reinvented himself. Starting a little over 10 years ago, he built a real-estate portfolio, using social media as a powerful marketing tool. “I’m convinced that social media was sent to Grant Cardone as a present,” he says.
Millions follow his daily messages across various platforms. Crowds pack his conferences and buy his books, augmenting a fortune built from an estimated $4 million in real estate. So what’s the appeal? “It’s transparency,” says the 65-year-old. “I’m very common sensical. I keep it raw.” Among his ions are fine wines and cigars, and he counts the Partagás Serie D No. 4 as his favorite. “I do like the Cubans,” he says, flashing a bright smile.
