My Favorite Cigar

George Hamilton • Actor • Davidoff Grand Cru No. 2
“I love cigars: I have so many different ones at different times,” says actor George Hamilton, a man who has been a familiar, smiling face on the big screen and television for decades. He’s played one of the campiest versions of Dracula ever seen (in the hit Love At First Bite), an Ivy Leaguer in the spring break comedy Where the Boys Are and even portrayed the debonaire lawyer for the Corleone family in The Godfather: Part III. At this point in his life, he’s done so much that he’s famous for being famous.
Hamilton is 84 and looks considerably younger, although he’s not as tan as he was in his younger days. He’s been smoking cigars for decades. “I smoked cigars in Havana when I was 18,” he says.
Hamilton’s long-term love affair with cigars is so strong that he once was in the business. During the 1990s, he had a brand of his own and a cigar bar in Las Vegas. Henke Kelner, who made Davidoffs at the time, made cigars for him, so it’s not a surprise that Davidoffs remain a Hamilton favorite.
