New Cuban Regional For Spain

As a follow-up to the Diplomaticos Colección Privada I, a Cuban cigar that came out in 2013, Spain now has Privada II, a larger Edmundo size made exclusively for the Spanish market. The Regional Edition measures 5 3/8 inches by 52 ring gauge and retails for 15 euros each, or about $16.35.
The Diplomaticos Colección Privada II is a bit behind schedule, as it was originally scheduled for 2020 release, but like so many Cuban cigars, the Diplomaticos arrived late. Part of Cuba’s Regional Edition program, these smokes come in 10-count boxes.
This release should be of particular interest to Spain’s cigar smokers. With the exception of the Regional Editions, Diplomaticos are not sold in Spain. Colección privada translates to “private collection” in Spanish.
The cigars come to Spain by way of Tabacalera S.L.U., the country’s official distributor of Cuban cigars. According to last year’s report from Habanos S.A., Spain is the No. 2 market for Cuban cigars. The Iberian country had been No. 1 for many years but in 2021 was bumped by China, which is now the leading market for Habanos.
