New World by A.J. Fernandez Gets a Double Corona

If you have two hours to put aside for a smoke, then A.J. Fernandez has just the cigar. He’s added a large size to his New World line and it started reaching retailers last week—the Double Corona.
Measuring 7 1/2 inches by 55 ring gauge, the box-pressed behemoth retails for $8.50 and comes packaged in 21-count boxes. It’s the seventh size in the tin of petit coronas, both of which were put into regular production last year.
Rolled at the Ometepe, Condega and Estelí.
Double coronas are not a very popular size in the industry, as cigars have transitioned over the years from longer and thinner to shorter and fatter, but the large format still has a following. At 55 ring gauge, however, the New World Double Corona is much thicker than traditional double coronas.
The New World line debuted in 2014 and now has multiple offshoots such as the New World Puro Especial.
