Ozgener Family Cigars Ships Firsat

OZ Family Cigars has added a third regular-production line to its portfolio, this time in response to customer demand for something milder. It’s called Firsat which translates to “opportunity” in Turkish (brand owner Tim Ozgener is of Turkish and Armenian descent). The cigars started shipping last week. Firsat was displayed at this year’s PCA trade show and expected to launch by April but was delayed due to issues concerning box production.
Made in the Dominican Republic at Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s Casa Carrillo factory, Firsat consists of a high-priming Connecticut-seed wrapper from Ecuador, an Ecuador Habana binder and Nicaraguan filler, some of which is from the island of Ometepe.
Firsat comes in four sizes: F52, which measures 5 inches by 52 ring gauge ($12.25); F55, 5 1/2 by 55 ($13.25); F60, 6 by 60 ($14.50); and F54, 7 by 54 ($14). Whereas Ozgener’s Firsat is somewhere in the middle, what the company calls a “soft press.”
The F54 is the only size that has not seen a full release. So far, 42 boxes of the F54 have shipped, with the rest scheduled to go out by the end of July.
Two soft launches of the brand took place in Turkey, the first on June 11 at the Peat & Sherry and the second on June 13 at the Swissôtel on the Asian and European sides of Istanbul, respectively.
