Plasencia’s Year of the Ox Forecast for February

Plasencia Cigars s the Chinese zodiacal celebration with an smoke aptly named Year of the Ox, a dramatically tapered, 7-inch-by-58-ring-gauge Salomon set to ship to international markets this February.
Packaged in striking scarlet boxes of eight cigars, Year of the Ox will retail for approximately $35 each, or $280 for an entire box (exact prices vary depending on country). The cigars are rolled in Nicaragua at the the Plasencias. Only 2,500 boxes have been produced, or 20,000 cigars total, all of which are going to Asia and Europe.
“The Plasencia family felt it important to recognize the hard-working agriculturists and farmers, who, like the ox, are never the center of attention but continue to be the backbone of the cigar industry,” the company said, adding that the Year of the Ox cigars are intended to be medium bodied.
Drew Estate, Tabacalera S.L.U. and Habanos S.A. have all released cigars named for animals of the Chinese zodiac.
