Regional Quai d’Orsay 109 Slated for Switzerland

Switzerland will be getting a Regional Edition Quai d’Orsay cigar, and it’s coming in a 109 size. Named Selección Royales, the Quai d’Orsay measures 7 1/4 inches by 50 ring gauge and is topped with a tapered, 109-style campana or bell-shaped head.
There’s no word yet on pricing or release date, but Swiss cigar distributor Intertabak AG confirmed that the Quai d’Orsay Selección Royales will come in 50-count cabinets. Only 1,600 boxes will be produced.
The 109 shape gained notoriety in 1995 as part of a limited-edition Partagás anniversary humidor released to celebrate 150 years of the brand. 109s, though, are rarely seen and only released intermittently by Habanos S.A. for special projects such as this one.
Eventually, the shape started to appear from time to time as part of the Diplomaticos Bushido for the Asia Pacific Region (2014) and the La Gloria Cubana Orgullosos for Switzerland as well (2018).
