Special Montecristos And Humidor Made Just For Spain
After receiving a number of limited release made exclusively for its market—a humidor that holds 100 unique Cuban Montecristos. The package is called the Montecristo Carmen 250 Aniversario Real Fabrica de Tabacos de Sevilla and it honors the Royal Tobacco Factory of Seville, believed to be Europe’s first tobacco factory. While the building still stands today, it’s now property of the University of Seville.
The humidor is a confluence of artisans, as it was a collaboration between La Cartuja de Sevilla, which created the humidor’s decorative ceramic tiles; and Habanos S.A., responsible for the cigars. The tiles on the inner and outer lid depict the façade of the building.
The package is a bit late, and was supposed to launch two years ago, as the 250th anniversary of the factory was in 2020.
The large humidor holds 100 large Montecristo Carmens, which measure 7 1/8 inches long by 49 ring gauge, the first time a Montecristo has ever been released in this size. The format is known as Pacos in Cuban factories, and the name Carmen is a reference to Bizet’s eponymous famous opera.
Distributed by Tabacalera S.L.U., each humidor retails for 30,000 euros, or a little more than $30,000. Only 250 of these humidors have been produced.
