Steph Curry Celebrates Olympic Gold With A Cigar

Steph Curry went to Paris with a plan: win Olympic gold for the United States and celebrate with a fine cigar.
On Saturday, Curry and the rest of the United States men’s basketball team took down host country 98-87 to win the gold medal. On a team of superstars that also included LeBron James and Kevin Durant, Curry showed off his unmatched shooting skills, draining four three-pointers in the final three minutes of the game. The team went to celebrate at an afterparty in Paris, and Curry rolled out of his car with his championship cigar clamped firmly in his jaws, gold medal around his neck. He was also seen with a different cigar in his hand not long after the end of the game.
Curry, who appeared on the cover of the January/February Cigar Aficionado, likes to celebrate big wins with cigars. “I want a cigar with me as soon as the horn goes off,” he told the magazine during an exclusive interview in the San Francisco area, not far from where he plays for the Golden State Warriors. He smokes cigars most often when he’s on the golf course. “I’ll have one out there, maybe two,” he said.
This is the fifth straight Olympic gold for the United States men’s basketball team, and the first medal for Curry, who has won four NBA championships. “That was an unbelievable moment,” Curry told NBC right after the game. “For us to finally accomplish that, for me to get a gold medal is insane.”
On Sunday, the United States women’s basketball team also took home gold over the host nation , narrowly winning 67-66. The women’s team has been on a streak of dominance that’s hard to comprehend. Their win marked their eighth consecutive gold medal and 61st victory in a row at the Olympics. Kelsey Plum, one of the stars of the team, ed in the cigar celebration last evening. She could be seen at after parties and on her own social media profiles smoking her new signature cigar line with a gold medal proudly hanging from her neck. Plum was featured in the May/June issue of Cigar Aficionado.
