The Wise Man Maduro Gets A Lancero

Foundation Cigar Co.'s Nick Melillo is adding a lancero to The Wise Man Maduro, the darker offshoot of his El Güegüense brand.
The new lancero, measuring 7 1/2 inches by 40 ring gauge, is the sixth size in The Wise Man Maduro line, which debuted last year. The lancero will come in 13-count boxes and retail for $13.00 per cigar. Melillo said that the first production run will only be 500 boxes, and they will begin shipping in August.
The Wise Man Maduro lancero will wear a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, with Corojo ’99 binder from Jalapa and Nicaraguan filler from Estelí and Jalapa.
And like the other Wise Man Maduro cigars, the lancero is being rolled in Nicaragua at Tabacos Valle de Jalapa (TABSA), the same factory that produces the natural version of El Güegüense.
“I was inspired by the reputation of the lancero format, known for an appeal that tends to run deeper into the cigar connoisseur realm,” said Melillo, owner of the Foundation Cigar Co.
In the February 2018 issue of Cigar Aficionado, The Wise Man Maduro Churchill scored 90 points.
