Cuba’s 2024 Edición Limitadas
Cuba is releasing a trio of Edición Limitadas for 2024. Unlike in the past, we know precisely when one of them will go on sale.
The lineup of ELs for 2024 are the Trinidad Cabildos, Ramon Allones Absolutos and H. Upmann Magnum Finite. Each will come packaged in non-traditional, colorful boxes.
The Trinidad Cabildos EL 2024 is 6 1/8 by 46 ring gauge. The name Cabildos, which translates from the Spanish as “town councils,” refers to social associations during Cuba’s colonial times, according to Habanos. The cigars will come in adorned, brown 12-count boxes with golden accents on the lid referencing the brand’s 55th anniversary. The Cabildos has a definitive launch date, and will make its world debut in London during the Habanos World Days event that begins in June.
The Ramon Allones Absolutos EL 2024 will come in a light green box, and measures 6 3/8 inches long by 49 ring. Each box will contain 20 cigars. This is the fourth Edición Limitada from Ramon Allones; the last was the Ramon Allones Allones No. 2, an EL for 2019 that scored 93 points in a Cigar Aficionado blind tasting.
The H. Upmann Magnum Finite EL 2024 is relatively short and a bit fat, measuring 5 1/8 inches 53, a unique size in the H. Upmann line. The boxes are made with a light shade of natural wood on the top red trim in the middle and gray on the bottom. Each box will contain 25 cigars.
There is no word yet on pricing.
Limitadas have historically been among the more prized limited-edition smokes from Cuba. Habanos says the cigars are all made with tobacco aged a minimum of two years. The program dates back more than 20 years, when Habanos released a quartet of Limitadas. In most years, Habanos releases three cigars, but the past two years have been devoid of Els altogether. With three cigars scheduled to come out for 2024, it looks like the Limitadas are back.
