HVC Releasing First Cigar Made At Its New Factory
Boutique cigarmaker made at the company’s new factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The cigars are called Selección No. 1 and retailers can expect the new smokes to start shipping in late July or early August, not long after the show.
“It is with much pride that I launch this cigar,” said Reinier Lorenzo, owner of HVC, “and for the first time, being able to have it produced in my own factory.”
Prior to this release, all of HVC’s cigars were made under contract, with previous cigars rolled by Aganorsa Leaf, also located in Nicaragua.
The new, 12,000-square-foot factory is called Fabrica de Tabacos HVC S.A., which opened four months ago. Selección No. 1 is rolled with a core of Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos, with a dark San Andrés wrapper from Mexico. The binder was grown in the Jalapa region, while the fillers are made up of leaves from Jalapa and Estelí. According to Lorenzo, the new blend is medium-to full-bodied in of strength.
HVC Selección No. 1 will consist of three vitolas: Poderosos, measuring 6 inches by 54 ring gauge; Short Robustos, 4 1/2 by 52; and Esenciales, 5 5/8 by 46. All sizes ship in bright green boxes of 20.
Pricing for the line is yet to be determined.
