HVC Selección No. 1 Goes Natural

Boutique cigarmaker Reinier Lorenzo of Selección No. 1 brand with a second line. Whereas the original line was clad in a dark maduro leaf, the new line will be called Selección No. 1 Natural due to its lighter wrapper. Retailers can expect the new cigars to start shipping the first week of March.
The first release from the company’s new Fabrica de Tabacos HVC S.A. factory in Estelí, which opened last year, Selección No. 1 Maduro is rolled with a cover leaf from the San Andrés Valley in Mexico. The new Selección No. 1 Natural line is made with a wrapper from Ecuador, grown from Habano 1992 seeds. Inside the cigar is all Nicaraguan leaves. According to the company, the blend is medium-to full-bodied in of strength.
HVC Selección No. 1 Natural will be available in the same three sizes as the maduro version: Esenciales, measuring 5 5/8 inches by 46 ring gauge ($8.40); Short Robusto, 4 1/2 by 52 ($9.30) and Poderosos 6 by 54 ($10.40). All three sizes will ship in yellow boxes of 20, in contrast to the Maduro line, which comes in boxes that are bright green.
Prior to the factory’s opening, all of HVC’s cigars were made under contract by Aganorsa Leaf in Nicaragua.
