S.T. Dupont Shipping Signature Lighters From Padrón Collection

The premier styles of S.T. Dupont lighters celebrating the 60th anniversary of Padrón Cigars have landed, and they will ship soon to high-end stores. These are the two signature items from the Padrón/Dupont collection: each piece is individually numbered and limited to 88 pieces, and each makes the signature Dupont “ping” when opened. They are made in the Dupont factory in Faverges, , not far from the borders of Switzerland and Italy, using casting, stamping, laser cutting and high-definition 3D printing. The lighters each take six months to make.
“This is the top of the line,” says Les Mann, vice president of sales, S.T. Dupont USA. “This is the ultimate Padrón Dupont luxury collection.”
The S.T. Dupont Padrón Haute Creation Line 2 Lighter features the distinctive colors and logo of the Padrón brand, which was founded in 1964. The lighter is made from bronze, with gold plated brass accents. The bright cap is engraved with imagery familiar to Padrón smokers, including the initials of company founder José Orlando Padrón (J.O.P.) as well as the little hammer he used to find work as a newcomer to the United States. It also has the silhouette of Cuba, found on the original Padrón cigar band as well as the new 60th.
The sculpted bronze inlays show tobacco leaves, along with the Padrón logo. The lid opens with the signature Dupont “ping,” and sparks to life with a dual soft flame. It’s limited to 88 pieces, and retails for $4,495.
“The Haute Creation product range was established in 2009, bringing forth exquisitely handmade objects of art,” says Mann.
The S.T. Dupont Padrón Haute Creation Le Grand Lighter is a bit larger than the Line 2, but has similar styling with the logos and symbols. It’s main difference is in its flame. The Le Grand has two flames, a soft flame as well as a jet flame. You flip open the lid, roll the trigger to ignite the soft flame, then (if you wish) you push up on the trigger to ignite the jet. It retails for $4,795, and is also limited to 88 pieces.
“The Haute Creation Line 2 and Le Grand lighters tell a story, that of a shared ion for excellence, style and most importantly tradition. Both S.T. Dupont and Padron strive to keep the traditions of its origin alive, offering cigar aficionados exceptional quality,” says Mann. “It is a true honor that the Padrón family selected S.T. Dupont to collaborate on their 60th anniversary celebration.”
Other items in the collection, which sell for far less and are made in larger quantities, shipped in late October.
